Baker-267, Breen-1289 variety, struck in Brass, wth a Reeded Edge. Considered to be Rarity-6, and as such considerably less common than the Plain Edge type.
And this is a spectacular example, with blazing original luster and lovely golden orange toning on the obverse and reverse.
This is the single highest graded piece at PCGS by 3 (three!) grades, and by far and away the finest piece we have traced through 150 years of auction catalogs and reference books.
Ex Bowers March 1981 sale of the Garrett Collection, Part IV, lot 1741; earlier Colonel James Ellsworth Collection.
