Baker-30D, Breen-1254 variety, struck in copper then Fire-Gilt.
This type is rather common in ‘regular’ copper, but genuinely rare (and visually striking) with the Fire-Gilt finish seen here. Indeed, this variant was missing from the extensive Washington cabinets of Garrett, Picker, Steinberg, Jack Collins, LaRiviere and Roper.
But it need not be missing from yours –
And this is a beautiful, original example with a lovely old-time patina and ample original golden color remaining.
