Baker-165A, Musante GW-71 variety, Skull and Crossbones type, struck in Silver.
An intriguing issue, much tougher than the typically seen type with the Funeral Urn reverse.
With all of them struck to be worn in Washington’s Funeral Parades and thus subject to considerable non-numismatic handling. Indeed, many of the survivors are heavily cleaned and hairlined, scratched, damaged or even graffitied. Those that escaped that fate are likely to be well worn with the reverse legend rendered incomplete.
But this is about the most wholesome, original, relatively affordable example we’ve seen, with full detail, pleasing coin gray color, old toning in the devices and much nicer surfaces than typically encountered on these pieces.
