Hodder 2-B, W-12040 variety, Thick Planchet type. Considered to be Rarity-2.

The typically seen Elephant variety in utterly amazing and decidedly atypical condition with much fiery 326 year-old mint red remaining on the obverse and reverse.

Of the 233 examples of this type certified by PCGS through the years, this is one of just 5 to ever earn the RB designation, and is in our considerable experience the 2nd reddest of them. The fact that this piece is housed in its original PCGS 5.0 slab used by them from 1995 to 1998 reassures that this lovely color is stable.

And while this example is not perfect, with a few minor flecks setting the grade at 63, it is a dramatic freak of nature which would make a striking example for type.
