Breen-1145, W-8520 variety, considered to be Rarity-4.

One of the classic colonial issues, with the simple but elegant USA monogram on the obverse (derived from a revolutionary War era button), and 13 bars on the reverse. 

And while most of the ones we see in the marketplace are unoriginal or cleaned or corroded or impaired (including a bunch that have slipped into holders), this is a lovely example with some crust in the devices and about the nicest golden brown color you’ll find on this type. 

Sharply struck too, highlighting the delineation of the ‘A’ crossing over the ‘S’ on the obverse (a hallmark of genuine examples, but not always easy to see).
