Are you sitting down?

Good. Because this is a pretty serious coin.

A superb, original gem uncirculated example of what is arguably the most popular of all colonial era issues.

Bar Coppers (or Cents as they are called by some, including PCGS) are not terribly rare as colonials go. We would estimate that as many as 200 exist in all grades combined, and that the average grade of surviving pieces is somewhere around XF. But the story changes at the mint state level.

We doubt more than 15 legitimately, traditionally graded uncirculated pieces exist in total. Of those, perhaps 3 or 4 could rightfully be called gems.

And of that small, select group, this one might just take the cake.

Ho hum, just another boring day here at CRO.
