Martin 1c.35-Ab.1, W-11500 variety, Halo Redbook type.  Considered to be Rarity-7+.

An extremely rare and seldom seen variant with the distinctive Halo around St. Patrick’s head on the reverse, and a coin which just happens to be one of your author’s favorite issues.  Seriously, I’ve always been interested in this type, though I’ve had scant few opportunities to buy (or even see) one.

The few that have come to market over the years have been impaired or in extremely low grade and not exactly CRO-worthy – except for this lovely, problem free, chocolate brown, well-pedigreed Choice VF that is the finest known example of the type and the highest graded at PCGS.
