M-NY-495G variety, struck in Copper by George Lovett.

First of three charming Trans-Atlantic Cable pieces on our list celebrating the then-new Trans-Atlantic cable by depicting England (as John Bull) communicating with America (as Brother Jonathan) electronically via symbolic lightning bolts and this charming dialogue:

John Bull:  HOW ARE YOU JONATHAN

Brother Jonathan: PURTY WELL OLD FELLER / HEOW’S YERSELF

Here mated to the far less common non-sequitur Boy and Dog reverse.

The piece itself is a well struck Choice Unc. and quite pleasing for this grade level.
