An extreeeeemely nostalgic issue for your author, since I first owned a Jefferson Nickel struck on a 1¢ planchet waaaaay back in 1969.

With all due apologies to my 1969 self, my old coin was ~MS63 RB level quality if I remember correctly, while this one is a stone cold, full red gem and is about the nicest example I’ve ever seen of any date.
