This particular issue has always held a special place in your author’s heart, as I vividly remember my father buying an example of this type from a coin shop on Long Island in the late 1960s.

And then explaining to me that this issue was struck to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the arrival of the Nieuw Nederlandt which landed in New York in 1624 carrying Huguenots from France and Walloons from Belgium who would settle in the area.

And while unfortunately I remember my father’s coin being too white and a little hairlined, this one is a lovely Ch. Unc. with old toning on the obverse and reverse.
