Newcomb-22 variety, considered to be Rarity-3+. MDS, die state d early. Fine die crack through MER to the dentils above the adjacent I (but not above the first A) and the crack from the dentils under star 1 fades out just before reaching the neck and bust.
First of a couple of deluxe and well pedigreed Large Cents on this list, this is a sharply struck, lustrous, original and extremely eye-appealing example with considerable mint red remaining.
Considered tied for CC #2 honors in the Bob Grellman census.
