KM-22 variety, struck at the San Jose, Costa Rica mint.
While the Central American Republic issues from the Nueva Guatemala mint can be seen with some frequency in the marketplace, this one-year Costa Rica mint issue is a whole different animal, and represents the country’s first and only crown-sized coin (except for some 19th century CR-countermarked foreign coins, and the NCLT issues from 1970 and later).
And this rare and seldom seen issue is in lovely condition, with choice surfaces and very pretty blue and golden toning on the obverse and reverse.
