1829 Bust Half Dollar, PCGS MS-64. Overton-111. This is no ordinary Bust Half. It is stone white, with frosted devices, and deep, deep mirrored surfaces. In fact, this coin has sold at two or more auctions as a Proof (the December 1998 Sotheby’s sale, and the September 2004 Coinhunter sale). It is likely the specimen that sold in the Richard B. Winsor, Esq. Sale sold by the Chapman Brothers in December, 1895, where it realized a strong $17.00. Regardless of whether you feel it is a proof, or like PCGS feel it is a business strike, it is a ! joy to behold. This coin jumps out of the case and blinds the viewer.
