BD-1 variety, the only known dies. Considered to be Rarity-4+.
A tough date in this series with a documented mintage of just 15,454 pieces, but some of that minuscule total may have been dated 1813. Numismatic researcher (and long time friend of the firm) John Dannreuther has estimated the actual total of 1814-dated coins may have been as low as 10,000. That’s not very many.
Of which there are scant few choice survivors, making this lustrous, sharply struck, Choice AU example a very difficult thing to find. Indeed, the last CAC-certified AU58 example of this issue was an NGC coin sold 16 looooong years ago (!).
Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
