KM-51 variety, Charles IIII type. Struck at the Santiago mint. Believed to be R-7+ with just a few known.
A coin which seemed destined for the CRO list, this is the extremely rare issue with the catastrophic, you-can’t-miss-it misspelling of CAROLUS as CROLUS in the obverse legend (which I’m sure went over real well back at the palace).
But that engraver’s unfortunate mistake created a veritable boon to you, our reader, as this is a fantastic example of a virtually unobtainable issue.
With nice surfaces, pleasing coin gray color and the legend error as bold as can be.
