A beautiful, original example of this key Redbook variety.
The color is a nice, silvery-gray with some hints of gold and blue-gray toning, while the fields are smooth and retain some of their original brightness.
Just a few scattered marks here and there, including a couple on Liberty’s neck, which are about as you would expect at this grade level and which aren’t really distracting or too noticeable.
This issue is notoriously weakly struck, but that is really not the case here as just the centers are a trifle soft.
In all, this is a very nice example, pedigreed to arguably the most famous collection ever assembled and comparing quite favorably with the Reiver collection coin, which was graded NGC AU55 and realized $48,000 in January, 2006.
