323 10 323 10r

O-106 variety, considered to be low R-6.

Not our usual fare here. This coin has been slabbed by NCS as ‘Improperly Cleaned, Fine Details’.

It’s also holed and plugged, which NCS failed to mention, perhaps so as not to further damage this coin’s already fragile psyche.

The coin has also been retoned to a silver-gray with some blue-green color to hide evidence of the repair done. Overall, the look is actually not that bad, and will likely satisfy some collectors – as it did Mr. Reiver – seeking an example of this rare die marriage.

An undamaged specimen, if found, would sell for very significantly more.

Ex-Heritage’s sale of Jules Reiver collection, lot #22477 at $5,462.50, William Wetzler (12/1982).

$6,000
