Baker-19, Musante GW-21, W-10840 variety, considered to be Rarity-6 with perhaps 20 known.
Among the most distinctive, popular and sought after Washington pieces, with its Roman style portrait on the obverse juxtaposed with a surprisingly scrawny, malnourished eagle on the reverse.
And this is among the finest known examples of this type and tied with one other as highest graded by PCGS, with all but pristine surfaces and lovely old blue toning. Superb provenance too.
Ex Stack’s December 1983 sale of the John L. Roper, 2nd Collection, lot #378.
