Breen-980, W-5785 variety, one of the classic and most sought after issues in the American colonial series.  Estimated by us to be High Rarity-5, with many of those corroded, impaired or in very low grade. 

The obverse motif is the New York state arms, with the Latin legend EXCELSIOR (translated as ‘Ever Higher’), and an early use of E PLURIBUS UNUM on the reverse.

And this is a very high grade for this type.  Indeed, PCGS has graded just 12 examples in total, the highest of which is an AU55.

Rich brown with nice detail and no really distracting marks or issues.
