Maris 62-q variety, considered to be Rarity-1.
A top-notch example, with lovely, choice tan color, smooth hard surfaces and just a few light marks here and there. The strike is crisp save for the very centers, with sharp detail on the horse, plough and shield and not a trace of rub on the highest points of the design.
Struck from a later state of the obverse die with the very distinctive break from 5 o’clock, while the reverse is about 5% off-center to the bottom, revealing the sharp die edge above ‘PLURIBUS’.
In all, this is a special piece, looking every bit of the assigned grade and as such a quintessential New Jersey copper for type.
