Most of this type are overstruck and reveal some strong details of the host coin. But this one is pretty clear with only a few faint and unidentified elements of the undertype peeking through and thus represents this design as the original coiners intended. We like that.

The minor bumps and flaws on the reverse are pretty typical for this issue, while the obverse is unusually crisp and clear.

The deer-like horse in particular is about as bold as you’ll find on one of these.
