Maris 43-d, W-5225 variety, with the distinctive arcing die breaks on the reverse shield as always seen on the Maris ‘d’ reverse. Considered to be Rarity-1.
And this is a superb piece that was our hands down favorite New Jersey type coin in the Newman collection, as it was the only one that exhibited hard, lustrous, frosty, original and (and this is the kicker) unconserved surfaces.
With lovely color too, and a sharp, even and, unusual for this variety, extremely well-centered strike.
Ex Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society; earlier B.G. Johnson; earlier Colonel E.H.R. Green.
Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
