K.8, M.JAB-37 variety, struck in Silver. Considered to be Rarity-8.

An exceptional silver example of Bolen’s mid-19th century restrike of the extremely rare George Clinton Cent, here boldly struck over an 1819 United States Capped Bust Quarter (with the host coin clearly evident on both the obverse and reverse).

This piece is one of just two traced in silver, with the other example struck over an 1832 Quarter and permanently ensconced in the collection of the American Numismatic Society in NY.

And while we have not seen that other one, it is hard to imagine that it could be more attractive than this lovely, original silvery-gray piece with shimmering luster and pretty iridescent rose and pale green toning on the obverse and reverse.

In all, a fascinating piece, desirable on many levels and, once sold, an opportunity not likely to be repeated anytime soon.

Ex Stack’s May 2006 sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, lot #592 where it realized $9,775.
