Miller 8-O, W-2840 ‘Tall Head’ variety, considered to be Rarity-3.
The distinctive type with the unusually tall obverse portrait (Editor’s note: A customer once asked me "Who is that fat old lady on the Connecticut Coppers?" to which the answer is of course King George II of England who I am sure would not have appreciated that characterization).
And this is a lovely golden brown example with hard surfaces and a provenance that reads as a veritable Who’s Who of colonial numismatics.
Ex Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society (where it was graded NGC AU50); earlier B.G. Johnson; earlier Virgil Brand; earlier Dr. Thomas Hall (with Hall’s distinctive white attribution ink clearly visible on the edge of this piece).
