Ryder-6, W-2020 variety, VERMONTENSIUM type. Considered to be Rarity-2.
Among the most popular and distinctive issues in the entire American series, with the charming Green Mountain landscape scene on the obverse, and the all seeing eye surrounded by STELLA QUARTA DECIMA (Latin for the 14th star, a plea for Vermont statehood which was eventually achieved in 1791).
And this is an extreeeeemely pleasing example with delightful golden brown color, sharp detail for the issue and on a much better planchet than we typically see on this issue. Very desirable provenance, too.
Ex Stack’s June 2020 sale of the Q. David Bowers Collection, lot #202, where it realized $9,000.
$9,750
