Ryer-6, W-2020 variety, VERMONTENSIUM type. Considered to be Rarity-2.
One of the most popular issues in the American series, with its charming and strikingly distinctive Green Mountain landscape scene on the obverse, and an all-seeing eye on the reverse surrounded by STELLA QUARTER DECIMA (translated as THE 14TH STAR, referring to Vermont’s position as the 14th state).
Unfortunately, most of the survivors of this type are badly flawed, or environmentally damaged, or very low grade (or some combination of the above).
And while this one is not perfect, with some striking weakness on the lower right obv and lower left rev, it is a very pleasing, original chocolate brown example on a much better planchet than typically encountered.
