No Coulter type as designated in the Redbook, considered to be Rarity-4.

A nice example of this quite scarce Redbook type. A ‘coulter’ is the cutting blade on a plow and can be seen on the vast majority of New Jersey copper coins, but a rare few varieties comprise the No Coulter type as seen here.

This piece is a lovely, choice light chocolate brown, with better than typically seen surfaces and some pleasing woodgrain effect.

The obverse is a tad off-center to the lower right, with the date tight to the edge of the planchet, but not distractingly so.

In all, a Choice Fine, far better than most of this grade level, and a nice affordable example of this type. Higher grade pieces rise in price exponentially, when they can be located at all.
