BHM-269, D&H-235 variety, by far the finest of just a few examples we’ve ever seen in this gilt bronze composition.
A second example in this series, and in our view this half dollar-sized medal is the definitive anti-slavery piece, with the familiar kneeling slave symbol of the British Anti-Slavery Society on the obverse beneath AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER.
The reverse bears the inscription WHATSOEVER YE WOULD THAT MEN SHOULD DO TO YOU, DO YE EVEN SO TO THEM.
The piece itself is a strikingly brilliant, golden, Choice Unc. with some deeper golden orange in the devices.
