Crosby 3-B, W-1895 variety, with Pointed Rays and Script US.
This specimen can be traced to Stack’s October, 1989 sale of the Gilbert Steinberg Collection, lot #67, where it was described as follows:
"Apparently unlisted die state, all leaves separated at points. A touch of verdigris at R and another at IA. The obverse is particularly superb. Light olive and pale brown toning. No trace at all of the regular break connecting 4 to 6 leaves below US. The first we have seen in this earliest die state. Uncirculated."
And we concur. This is an incredibly sharp mint state piece that is just a few minor reverse marks away from a higher grade.
