Newman 2-C, W-8455, with the correct spelling of CURRENCY, the toughest of the obtainable Continental varieties, and the one most often seen poorly struck.

But this one is very sharp, with all of the detail (including the often flat cartoon-like sun face) crisp and clear, and good centering on both the obverse and reverse.

The condition is lovely as well, totally original, with choice color, ample luster remaining and impressive flash on the obverse and reverse.

And though PCGS has graded a few examples just one point higher at MS64, not all of those can match this piece for strike, centering, originality, color and overall appeal.

For comparison, an example is currently being offered on the Heritage retail site in a PCGS MS64 holder, and while that one is certainly quite pleasing, it is a bit weak at the date and is still priced at around $400K.  Making our coin seem like a pretty compelling value in our admittedly biased view.

Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
