Nelson 10, the so called ‘Long Head’ variety. Considered to be rarity-5 with an extant population of 31-75 pieces. In our experience, an estimate of as many as 30 pieces still seems too high.
A wonderful, original golden tan example with nary a mark or defect of any kind and just a trace of wear on the highpoints.
This variety is nearly impossible to locate in high grade; the example in the Ford collection was a rough Very Fine, as was Taylor’s, Norweb’s was a scratched Fine and Garrett lacked the variety all-together.
Certainly one of the finest known of this interesting and enigmatic type.
