Freidus 1.3-A, W-8125 THE VALVE OF THREE PENCE / CONNECTICVT, variety, 3 Hammers type. Considered to be Rarity-7+.

Always among the most popular issues in the entire American colonial series with its charming folk art-style Deer motif.

Unfortunately, most Higleys are in pretty rough shape with damage, graffiti, corrosion, uneven strikes, holes or some unholy combination of the above.

Making the survival of this choice, all original piece with superb light chocolate brown color something of a numismatic miracle.

And while one might wish for this color and surface quality combined with a bold strike and super sharp detail, to the best of our knowledge such a coin simply does not exist.  If it did, it would be a very, very, very expensive item.

Ex Sydney F. Martin Collection; earlier Heritage’s January 2015 sale of the Donald G. Partrick Collection, lot #5633; earlier Stack’s December 1983 sale of the John Roper Collection, lot #148.

$107,500
