Martin 4.73-L.2, W-13730 variety, considered to be Rarity-5.
The 1724 issue is much less common than the typically seen 1723 Hibernia, and this is an absolutely fantastic example.
Interesting provenance too, traced to Stack’s October 1967 sale of the Charles Jay Collection, lot #23, where it was described as follows:
“A beautiful full flaming original mint red, obverse and reverse. Light iridescent toning just beginning on the high portions. Uncirculated gem, and worth any price paid for it. Probably could not be equalled.”
Some 50+ years later, this is still the finest example of this date we have ever seen or know about.
