Martin 3.2-F.4, W-1236 variety, Crowned Rose Redbook type. Considered to be Rarity-7.
About the nicest example of this Halfpenny issue we’ve ever had, all original, with much fresh golden color remaining (which is seldom the case on these).
Editor’s note: We have long advocated that Rosa Americana coinage should be given color designations equivalent to the BN, RB and RD used on copper coins – perhaps BN, GB and GD – to recognize desirable specimens with their original golden color intact. In which case the present example would be a solid MS63 GB.
This piece is very sharply struck too, with a bold border of cannonball denticles on the obverse and reverse.
