A lovely, original and extremely red example of this popular issue bearing what is always the most popular and sought after provenance in numismatics.

This piece was lot #39 in Bowers May 1996 sale of the Louis E. Eliasberg Collection where it was described as follows:

“Generous amounts of original mint red remain. A splendid specimen of this early issue. Rarely seen so brilliant.”

To which we can only add that this piece is as red today as it was in 1996, and is especially appealing in its old PCGS slab with the Eliasberg provenance on the label.
