Martin 1.1-A.1, W-12650 variety, Rocks reverse. Considered to be Rarity-6+ with perhaps 15 known in total.
The first issue in the Hibernia series and the only one bearing the distinctive and frankly bizarre rock outcropping on the right side of the reverse which this author always assumed was added by the engraver in an attempt to cover up some sort of terribly embarrassing mistake in the legend.
And this is a boldly struck, well made example on a broad planchet with, unusually, a full ring of denticles on the obverse and reverse. Incredibly wholesome and original too, with superb light chocolate brown color, 18th century crust in the devices and exceptional eye appeal.
