W-11830 variety, struck at the La Rochelle mint.
Another challenging issue in the colonial series, this is a type that is notoriously poorly made on crude planchets, weakly and/or unevenly struck and seldom seen above XF condition.
And while this piece does have a shallow clip at 5 o’clock on the obverse, it is among the best made, highest graded most eye appealing examples of this type we’ve ever seen or know about with mostly hard, smooth surfaces, bold detail and very pleasing mahogany brown color.
