Noe 1-A, Salmon 1-A, W-130 variety (as are all examples of this denomination), considered to be High Rarity-6. 32.0 grains.
Willow Trees have always been among the most famous and desirable issues in the American colonial series, with only the most advanced collections likely to include an example of any coin in this series.
When they do appear, they are often seen weakly and unevenly struck, damaged, holed and plugged, or with other impairments.
And while this one too is unevenly struck and with a few old knocks, it is a nice, original, representative, PCGS-graded piece with lovely color, relatively bold detail and is about as much coin as one could hope to obtain in this price range.
Ex Heritage’s May 2014 sale of the Eric P. Newman Collection lot #30260; earlier Coin Number 6 on Plate VII of The New England and Willow Tree Coinages of Massachusetts, by Sydney P. Noe, 1943.
