August 25, 2019: The Devens, MA Monthly Coin Show

Heading out to Devens on a beautiful, sunny Sunday one might have wondered if the gloriously cooler weather would have prompted some would-be coin show visitors to hit the links, go fishing or take part in some outdoor activity or other rather than attend the show.

But those who wondered about that would have been wrong.  Dead wrong, it seems, since the place was crowded start to finish, and coin collecting seemed to be alive and well on this day.

Including at our table, where we bought 11 coins and sold 19 other ones in what turned out to be about the most commercially productive Devens show we can recall.

With nearly all of that activity concentrated in regular U.S. coins coming and going, the one exception being a gem Weiner Medal which had never been on the site (and now will never be).

Interrupted intermittently by some numismatic show and telling, high level schmoozing, coin comparing and, importantly, some dealer to dealer bookkeeping that we never get a chance to do elsewhere.

With all of this excellent activity concluding at about one, giving us now even more to do before we head off to Long Beach in about a week from where our next RR will be posted like clockwork.
