August 27, 2007: "Typical Washington Quarter"

Concept:
We felt that this ad caption had to be fairly descriptive of the coin shown since a lot of people probably wouldn’t know what it is. And since the images are black and white, we wanted to emphasize, again, that it was gold. People like gold.

We also wanted to subtly highlight that this rare and historic (and gold!) coin was priced in a range similar to (or even less than) a lot of Washington Quarters that trade these days.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The alternatives were all variations on this theme, including: "Just your typical Washington Quarter, except that it is older, smaller and made of gold."

Changing ‘smaller’ to ‘rarer’ was sort of a no brainer, since people like rare coins. They do not seem to like small coins.
