Concept:
Starting with the well known phrase Complementary Color (which refers to a pair of colors which, when placed next to each other, create the strongest contrast for those two colors), we then swapped an e for an i and thus created a new phrase referring to color worthy of complimenting.

Namely the superb, original, multi-colored toning on this Choice XF 1858 3¢ Silver.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The only alternative considered this week was the pluralized “Complimentary Colors.“, and while that may have been more accurate, we thought it clouded the impact.

In retrospect, we may have made the wrong choice.
