Betts-572 variety, struck in Silver. 32 mm.
A neat issue with the arms of Russia, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands on the obverse united in GEWAPENDE NEUTRALITEIT (The League of Armed Neutrality).
The reverse bears the all-seeing eye and thanks to Russia’s Catherine II for creating the league to enforce freedom of the seas against the British.
And this is a lovely, original, old toned, well pedigreed example.
Numismatic Fine Arts & Bank Leu’s March 1985 sale of the Garrett Collection, Part III, lot #1422.
