M. 34-J, W-5115 variety, considered to be Rarity-3.
Another distinctive type, this with the horse head resembling a deer (sort of).
For whatever reason, most examples of this variety are found struck over other coins, as is the case here with some remnants of an apparent Connecticut under-type visible in the reverse shield.
The piece itself is a rich chocolate brown with nice surfaces and no serious distractions.
In all, a cool, interesting and affordable example of a less commonly seen NJ variety.
