Vlack 21-II-87D-II variety, identifiable by the pronounced die clash in evidence at 11 o’clock on the reverse. Considered to be Rarity-4.
A rather remarkable example with exceptional detail for a Machin’s product.
The color is a nice, rich chocolate brown with just a couple of small darker patches bespeaking originality, and the strike is strong and even.
A very critical eye would note a few very small nicks here and there, none of which are really distracting or noticeable, and a uniform very light roughness to the planchet.
We have handled many high end (relatively speaking) Machin’s Mills coins through the years and would rank this example among the very best we have ever seen.
