A nice, uncirculated example of this really interesting type.

A few of these were struck on large planchets as a pattern for circulating coinage, then later a few hundred were struck on narrow, underweight flans (including this one) and released into circulation. Pleasing, with good color and a full date (which is not always the case with these).
