Martin 2.6-Eb.2, W-1278 variety, considered to be Rarity-4.
A lovely, all original Choice AU example with about as much of the original golden bath metal color as one could ever hope to find on this typically mellowed brown type.
As an aside, your author has long believed that PCGS should designate Rosa Americana coins by color like they do with copper coins, though instead of BN, RB and RD, they should use BN, GB (Golden Brown) and GD (Gold). And, if they did, this one would be solidly GB with claims to GD.
Ex Stack’s-Bowers March 2013 sale of the Ted L. Craige Collection, lot #42 where it realized $2,115.
