K.4, M.JAB-10 variety, struck in Silver.
A neat piece, circa 1860, struck from Bolen’s convincing copy dies which capture the charm of Dr. Samuel Higley’s original design.
Lovely, original silvery gray surfaces with a somewhat mottled old-time patina.
Attractive, very rare and collectible in its own right, and a wonderful substitute for the exceedingly expensive and generally crude original Higley coppers.
Ex Stack’s May 2006 sale of the John Ford Collection, Part XIV, lot #570 where it realized $1,610.
