This is undoubtedly one of ‘the Cohen Hoard’ pieces – an original keg of uncirculated Virginia Halfpennies discovered by Col. Mendes I. Cohen (one of the coolest names in numismatics) in Richmond prior to the Civil War. 

The direct result of which is that today’s collectors can acquire a 235 year-old colonial era copper with much of its original mint red remaining for less than a king’s ransom.
