An interesting and macabre issue struck to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the remains of St. Lambert being interred at the Church of Liege.
And this seems to be an appropriate (given the subject matter) terminal die state with a wicked and previously unobserved die break off the skull.
The piece itself is a lovely, lustrous light golden brown which looks considerably better than AU53 to your admittedly biased author.
Prior to certification at PCGS, this piece was housed in an ancient-looking cardboard precursor to modern coin slabs, this evidently once owned by someone with truly excellent penmanship.
