Middlesex D&H-732 variety.

A classic Thomas Spence political propaganda piece akin to today’s political cartoons.

With an American Indian (reminiscent of that seen on the Massachusetts Coppers) on the obverse surrounded by the legend IF RENTS I ONCE CONSENT TO PAY MY LIBERTY IS PAST AWAY based on Spence’s ideas that rents and taxes were an immoral burden and man should be able to use land as he liked.

The reverse depicts a guy smacking another guy with a cane with the legend BRITISH LIBERTY DISPLAYED.

The piece itself is the finest example of this issue we have seen or know about, with booming luster and electric red and brown color.
